Vigilante Vigilante (Anti-Graffiti Documentary) NYC Screening

“A new breed of crime-fighter now stalks the urban landscape: the anti-graffiti vigilante.  These dedicated blight-warriors stop at nothing to rid their neighborhoods and cities of street art, stickers, tags, and posters. Yet several of these vigilantes have become the very menace they set out to eliminate. In their relentless attempt to stamp out graffiti, they have turned to illegally and destructively painting other people’s property.  VIGILANTE VIGILANTE is the story of two filmmakers who set out to expose these mysterious characters and discover a battle of expression that stretches from the streets to academia.”

Vigilante Vigilante (directed by Max Good) will be screening in New York City on Wednesday, March 7th & Friday, March 9th at 7:30pm at Mayles Theatre uptown in Harlem (343 Lenox Ave. New York, NY 10027.)  You can can buy tickets on their website.  They will be doing a panel discussion with ex-vandal squad cop Steve Mona on March 9th after the screening.  This should be pretty interesting.  If you’d rather watch it downtown without dealing with ex-Vandal Squad members, you can check out a third screening on Thursday, March 15th at 8pm at IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue New York, NY 10014.)
