Turner Broadcasting (Warner Media)
Turner came to us for artwork that personified the media network’s values and glorified their new offices at 30 Hudson Yards, NYC. Set in the clouds with colossal window and rooftop views of uptown, downtown, the Statue of Liberty, and NJ, Hudson Yards is the sparkling new destination for shopping, entertainment, and the premier panorama of Manhattan. An exciting move for Turner and an exciting project for us!
We decked out the space with murals in 2 locations: in Turner’s main lobby area and a conference room, on the 49th and 50th floors. 2Alas and Bisco Smith were our two artists that, while both using mostly black and white and pattern-based designs, painted their own stylistic interpretations of Turner’s idea of “inclusiveness, belonging, and empathy, making connections in our modern world of digital media”.
These artists especially took into account the physical location of the artwork, whether creating optical illusions so the mural looks different depending on which angle you’re facing, or being inspired by and using the surrounding environment in the design, like side columns. For both artists, it’s clear they enjoyed the process and creating a bold impact, much like Turner.
